DigitalChurchPlans.com is the brainchild of Tom Incze, a Christian architect with over 30 years of architectural
experience. Tom is the owner and principal architect of ABL
Architecture & Design, Inc. in Charlotte, NC where he has been
designing churches as a large part of his architectural services for
nearly 20 years.
The philosophy of DigitalChurchPlans.com is
simple - Churches do not need to pay full price for church plans that
have already been done. While
this position might make us unpopular with other architects, it
just makes sense. Why charge 5 or 6% (or often more) of the project
cost for church building plans that were developed from other work product in
a fraction of the time it would take to develop them from scratch?
Custom plans require a great deal of work, and may often be worthy of
the fees charged. But if a church can find a set of building plans that
are the size and basic layout of the church design they need, why
charge full price when all the plans require are some relatively minor
changes? Sadly, this thought is somewhat revolutionary and
long overdue in church design.
Having designed hundreds of churches, ABL is making
existing church building plans available at a small fraction of the cost
of
creating them from scratch. Plans are shipped on CD or DVD.
The church can hire a local architect to make modifications and seal the
plans, or, in many cases, ABL can do the customization work (often
faster and cheaper than a local architect), and deliver complete
working drawings ready for construction.
It is worth explaining that ABL can often do
modifications faster and easier because they are working on
plans they
created. They know them well, they are used to the style
(every architect has their own) and don't have to spend 2-3 days
understanding the plans before they start work. That said,
your church is free to use any license architect to modify the
drawings to comply with the church's needs and local building codes.
Tom Incze's undergraduate work was completed at
Yale and he has his Masters Degree in Architecture from Harvard
University. In addition to teaching architecture at the
University of North Carolina, Charlotte for 7 years, he has been a
practicing architect since 1975.
